Dr. Shefaly Shorey serves as a key member of the Advisory Panel on Parenting under the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) in Singapore. In this role, she contributes her expertise in maternal and child health to guide policies and initiatives aimed at supporting parents in Singapore. Her insights help shape effective parenting programs, ensuring they are evidence-based and tailored to the diverse needs of families. Through her involvement, Dr. Shorey plays a vital part in enhancing the well-being of parents and children, fostering stronger family units across the nation.
Division of Community Family and Child Health (CFCH), National University Centre for Women and Children (NUWoC):
The Division of Community Family and Child Health (CFCH) at NUWoC is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of women, children, and families through community-centered care and research. The division focuses on promoting holistic, family-centered approaches to healthcare, addressing the unique needs of diverse communities. By integrating clinical excellence with community outreach and education, CFCH aims to improve health outcomes for women and children, fostering a supportive environment for family health and wellness
Southeast and East Asia Nursing Education and Research Network (SEANERN):
Chair of SEANERN: Dr Shorey is a key leader in fostering collaborative nursing education and research across Southeast and East Asia. Her influence extends to setting research agendas, promoting cross-border academic partnerships, and enhancing the quality of nursing education in the region. She has successfully led a few projects during COVID-19 to showcase how the pandemic has influenced research and education in SEANERN-affiliated universities.
Visiting Professorship- International Islamic University, Malaysia (2024 - 2025), Chiang Mai University, Thailand (2022-2024): Her visiting roles at prominent universities in Malaysia and Thailand demonstrate her influence in advancing nursing education and research on a regional scale. These roles enable the transfer of knowledge, the exchange of best practices, and the strengthening of academic ties between institutions in Southeast Asia. She has guided many young academics in writing research grants, and manuscripts and carving their research programmes.
Women in Science and Healthcare (WISH) Presidency: As the President of WISH at the National University Health System (NUHS), Dr. Shorey’s research and leadership significantly impact organizational strategies in promoting gender equality and women's representation in science and healthcare. She has written a whitepaper to suggest changes in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity at NUS Medicine and the NUHS.
